5·7 months agoWe could get some Vegas style betting odds going on this.
Vaccines, 2:1 (Best odds cuz this is just the de facto conspiracy theory for it) 5G signals, 4:1 Chemtrails, 8:1
Immigrants, 3:1 (gets a boost from being the big boogeyman of the admin currently) Wokeness, 20:1 (Seems too vague and nonspecific to be a valid choice, so long odds, but still giving it much better odds than the 10000:1 this one deserves, cuz honestly who knows what they’ll pull out of their asses with this.) Flouride, 12:1 (RFK has said some dumb things about Flouride before, but I’m not really expecting this one.) Antidepressants, 6:1 (He’s blamed them for the existence of school shootings, why not autism as well?) Pasteurization, 15:1 (Only drinking raw milk will keep the autism away!)

Gaming@beehaw.org•Would you rather stop playing a game than lower the difficulty? The First Berserker: Khazan devs reckon you would | Eurogamer
6·7 months agoI stopped playing Remnant 2 because it wouldn’t let me change the difficulty. Played on the “normal” difficulty, whatever it was called, flew through the game with no problems, got to the final boss, and just died over and over and over again. The spike between everything else in that game and the 2nd stage of the last boss was unreal. Went to change the difficulty and it said lowering the difficulty will reset the campaign progress. Quit at that point, but I really would’ve rather been able to lower the difficulty.

251·9 months agoThe other day I was seeing 13.1 million people, now I’m seeing 4-6 million, these are some big gaps.
A ton of people either way, but anyone know why the discrepancies are so big?
I can’t even imagine how people are counted for things like this. The one I went to was in a town of about 100k total people so I’m sure it was on the smaller side of things, but if asked how many people were there I’d guess around 2000, but that would still just be a completely wild guess essentially. Is that how they count attendance for these things, wild guesswork?

18·10 months agoI went and read a good chunk of negative steam reviews for it. And yeah, the vast majority of the negative ones are about mechanics, or performance, and seem perfectly legitimate. A lot that basically even say, “I don’t recommend now but seems like it will be good once they cook for a bit.”
I did see a couple made super recently that were basically negative reviewing because of this dude’s statements, but not many.
And funny how the only reviews I could imagine being considered review bomb-y seem to only have happened because of his whining about being review bombed.Mostly it looks like the game’s recent “The Breach” update was legitimately poorly received by the playerbase, the studio head decided, “No, it’s the children who are wrong.”

Technology@lemmy.world•Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would like to ‘delete all IP law’
13·11 months agoIn general, recipients of UBI end up in better employment positions than they had before receiving UBI. That means they pay more in taxes and contribute more to society. They also are in better health, which means those that were truly poor and on medicaid before, are no longer costing society as much in medical costs.
But keep licking that boot.

Technology@lemmy.world•Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would like to ‘delete all IP law’
18·11 months agoYou know why governments exist? Like, at their core? To take care of the fucking people living under them. It’s why village A stopped attacking village B, cuz they realized that, if they pooled their resources, they could defend against the fucking leopards and bears better. So yes, your taxes would go up. But you know what? Unless you’re actually rich, and not even like net worth of 3 million dollars or something, that ain’t even rich, but unless you’re RICH rich, you’ll get more throught that “handout” than you would pay in taxes. And the fact that it’d be funded through your taxes means it’s not even a handout to begin with! It’s a government SERVICE. The thing that made banding together in groups of more than a dozen people sound like a good idea in the first place.
Now, as for your point of having a lot of money not obligating you to support bums… well, first. Fuck you. You’re an asshole. And second, 50% of homeless people in the US are former foster kids that aged out of the system and have no support network. So I guess just fuck them, they get to die on the streets, right? Bad luck to not be born with wealthy parents. And historically, having a lot of money DID mean you had an obligation to support these so called “bums”. From the '40s to 1963, the top tax rates were ~90%. On the ultra wealthy. The Rockefellers and whatnots. Now it’s what? I dunno, 30%? That is, if you don’t use creative accounting and just make it .01%, which we all know is the typical practice. It’s not a handout, it’s making these rich beyond rich fucking assholes pay their fair share. But you can keep licking that boot, because, sure. Someday, YOU’LL make it. And when you have more money than you can possibly use in your great grandchildren’s lifetimes, it’ll be really important to you to keep some just turned 18 year old kid, who bounced around the foster system his whole life, and has no support system at all, out of housing. Good for you.

If you don’t wanna click the x link, here’s what it says in full:
This is a delicate moment. It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.
It seems that @elonmusk
made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.
In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new
beginning. Let’s hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead.
“Within the next two years, it will be completely normalized to have a relationship with an A.I.,” Ms. Cole predicted.
We haven’t managed to really normalize anything outside of cis-hetero relationships yet and you’re telling me we’re gonna normalize relationships with a.i. in two years? Sure.

6·1 year agoAnd Qannon was certainly amenable to Trump’s request to push back basically every date involved in the case.
Couple reasons. First, the FCC doesn’t regulate cable channels ever, only broadcast. Second, if they did, they wouldn’t care about enforcing it for their side anyway.
