I think I just didn’t see much room for expression in the movement system, but I guess that if its a banjo kazooie type game you might only unlock ways to do different things later on
Too cute to be cis 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈

I didnt “get” yooka laylee. I played like 1 or 2 hours and I was just deeply bored compared to something like a hat in time or odyssey - is it just a slow starter?

Pseudoregalia has the same endless space for skill expression in the movement - the platforming is deeply satisfying and scratched a very similar itch for me!
As others mentioned, A Hat In Time is delightful and has similar room for skill expression
Celeste is 2d but the single best platforming game I have ever played. Its movement system is so, so satisfying and deep
You might enjoy Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - its a ton of fun, but a slight sideways shift in genre
I also found Cavern of Dreams pretty delightful as a cute 3d mascot platformer
I would be failing you if I didn’t mention A Short Hike - it’s short, as its name suggests, but it is an absolute blast
Legendary Defender of Ascalon checking in o/

Thats depressing, i really liked larian’s whole thing and their attitude toward games development. Seeing them kick artists while they’re down means I’ll be skipping this :/

Cool idea, and thanks for setting this up!
I typically most enjoy emotional, narrative experiences. Think Heart of the Woods, To The Moon, In Stars and Time, etc
Edit: they gave me Mutazione which looks super compelling and to my interests - thanks stranger!

Yeah, nobody has actually figured out how that puzzle is solved so you can’t actually get max completion without data mining or a guide :P

How long did you spend on the monolith puzzle before looking it up?

Was not aware of the engraving on the shell casing. Based.

I guess I forgot that companies don’t give a shit about the consumer experience

You’d think these big companies would learn to anticipate these high loads and proactively increase capacity but hey

My favourite part of Shovel Knight was when they used the shovel to seal the radiance away

I’ve played and finished a lot of really brutal games on brutal difficulties.
If you think, in the situation where a game is simply too hard for you to progress, that dropping the difficulty so that you can experience the game you paid money for is giving up your “dignity”, you have a really fucking toxic relationship with your ego/self image/self worth, and with all the care and compassion in my heart you need to take some time to look inward. I do not say that as a judgemental statement. I say it because you will be happier and more satisfied if you can unlearn that.
Allow yourself the compassion to not reach your goals. Pursue your goals with fervour and drive and passion, of course - but be compassionate enough to yourself to let them go when they do not serve you.

He’d have to stop playing Umamasume for long enough to read steam porn game reviews

Toby Fox was forced to add trophies to the PlayStation release of undertale and deltarune, and made them oppressively annoying in protest, so I feel like there are exceptions to this
I’m so happy you’re finding your way out of a pit! I don’t know why you think it would be an unpopular thing to share, you’re on Beehaw here! People tend to be(e) a bit nicer

I have to recommend Ascent DX - it is free, quite short, but it condenses everything I enjoy about the metroidvania genre I to a bite sized play session.
Tunic is one of the best games ever made, nevermind just in the metroidvania genre. It is good for reasons I can’t tell you without spoiling some of the magic. Trust me!
Phoenotopia Awakening was stupendous fun and way bigger than I thought it would be. Strongly recommended. Typical side scrolling platforming gameplay, with emphasis on exploration and puzzles as well as the combat and platforming.
Death’s Door was so damn fun, and it felt quite fresh in a way I can’t describe. Its an isometric hack n slash game with some puzzle elements. Tells a cool story, and is a sequel/successor to Titan Souls, from the same devs.
AAAAXY was a lot of fun, and free and open source. Sort of like antichamber meets metroidvania. Short and sweet but also challenging!
Otherwise, as others mentioned, I can’t recommend these enough!:
Hollow Knight
Ori And The Blind Forest/Will Of The Wisps

“I guess it wasn’t a safe space for autistic people” is an insane takeaway from being temp banned for talking about people fucking their mothers and how people downvoting you arouses you (on a thread about not using a right wing hate symbol).
As an autistic person I’m baffled you’d try to hide behind your neurodivergence here.

Ah, you’ve played endgame Salvador I see
Yeah I guess some people with no moral backbone will do that
