She’s transgender victorous now, thank you very much

100% And it’s almost always a corpo fuckwit that constantly needs financial help everytime they build, hire, tank the business, and political help with ad-hoc rules and laws. Losers, they probably couldn’t compete with the little guy in a fair fight. Sorry for the rant

He’s a Nobody

About 10TiB/mo, mostly seeding

How many trees to send some text? Lol, my aging phone depletes its battery more if I don’t use it xD

I just have a high level of distrust of FAANG, and of proprietary software; I still use most stuff I’m not very extreme in practice

Who’s to say that local LLM model won’t be used when we leave our device on standby, to ease a usage spike from other users? It’s technically possible, the things stopping many companies are the potential legal trouble (but there’s an ever longer TOS for that), different levels of morality, company culture, etc.; many botnets were from simple games installed by regular people connected on a residential line. Some VPNs have been caught using their clients line as an endpoint for other clients in different countries

You could say it’s a ridiculous thought for now regarding this “hidden” Gemini local LLM, I just feel like it’s a possibilty.

Bingo

Probably a ridiculous notion but personally I wouldn’t feel 100% sure my device isn’t joining a distributed bot net ai datacenter for other people’s slop generation, burning my energy, my battery, my ssd (higher temps shorten their half life) without my consent

You mean Chinese? With an ever bigger presence in India I’m sure

Holy moly, what modem is that??

Sadly Windows-only last time I checked

I just added it too, I had read a few articles of them already

And in LineageOS, so I hope it’s in all android distros. App info > turn off “Manage app if unused”

(Next)²Cloud, duh

I can only tell you that personally I’m interested in trying out Navidrome because I don’t like all my eggs in one basket (Jellyfin is more complex sw for sure too) and I think I’m not the only one caring more about my music collection than movies and tv. But I did try Jellyfin for music (not with my main library) and it works very well, Finamp on android has offline mode which I find almost essential.

That’s what freedom looks like ;) choice!

I find the title kinda funny; it’s August 2025 and we’re proud of it 😎

I powered up your comment. Later skater

It’s p2p between the watchers, but files are hosted on a server (an instance of Peertube). With just one person watching a video there’s no p2p, only server-client.

Peertube would be my choice, thanks to p2p one won’t burden an instance if a video gets too popular. Just found a nice interface to find a good instance as a videomaker depending on topic, requirements, etc: https://joinpeertube.org/instances?profile=video-maker

As with the rest of the fediverse, autonomous institutions like universities should ideally have their own instance or join a collective. Embeds get the same p2p benefits and they seem super easy to implement

For Pewdiepie this makes a lot of sense, he was literally the top youtuber. But uploading also somewhere else (no exclusivity required) needs to become mainstream yesterday. We have technical colleges far from the US posting educational video content for a website embed on youtube only, it’s madness 😅
