There have been multiple plea deals on and off the table. The last big one got torpedoed by some of the 9/11 victim families. They went on fox and newsmax and got republicans to attack it as ‘caving to terrorist’
But, if this time works it’s off to SuperMax.
Any form of incarceration subject to any laws or treaties whatsoever would be at least slightly better than Gitmo.
The mere fact of that place still burns my soul.
I’d rather be in Gitmo than Texas.

I suppose because it’s largely political. Biden isn’t running, so he can take the blowback.
Biden isn’t the people kept in captivity for decades though…
I remember when Obama tried to do the same thing. There was quite a lot of blowback. Republicans whined and tried to frighten the nation. Governors were refusing to have them in their borders, etc.
