The problem is it’s not clear who could enforce a judgment on him. If DC police tried to arrest him, they wouldn’t get through the door. Him being president makes it very difficult, as a practical matter, to actually punish him in any way.

“Underscores the complex relationship” is classic AI slop writing. If I saw that phrase in a student essay I would roll my eyes and open the academic integrity report form.

It’s worth noting here that the President, as per the supreme Court, is immune from all prosecution if his actions result from the scope of his duties. It would be trivial for Trump to argue that deporting everybody he doesn’t like is within the scope of his duties, whether it’s lawful or not. That’s the unique danger we face right now: a combination of a strong man and a uniquely deferential SCOTUS. It’s never happened in American history.

A lot of the people he wants to deport are people claiming asylum because the country they come from is too dangerous to be in. Letting those people stay here while they plead their case is one of our lawful treaty obligations. Rounding them up and summarily deporting them is not enforcing the law it’s abrogating the law.

He’s talking about deporting millions of illegal immigrants, which will probably require putting them in a camp at least temporarily.

It’s remarkable to see people still denying that Trump is a fascist. He tried to use violence to overthrow the government. He’s a fascist.

I can’t agree with that; it was a fuckup on her part and if she was a real left wing politician she would be have thrown her support behind someone who actually believes in what she says she stands for, rather than waiting until the moderates in the party had a fait accompli. The polls in 2016 were largely on target. Clinton won the popular vote by roughly the predicted margin and the few key swing states that lost her the race had results that were largely within the margin of error. Lots of people took 2016 as an indication that polling is no longer good. That’s the wrong lesson to learn from 2016; it just doesn’t match the facts.

I bet these polls are within a couple points of the reality, as they pretty much always have been (even in the era of cell phones). They specifically weight the results based on the expected non-response of various groups. They account for the most obvious objection that anybody could raise about a modern poll (this one).

The polls are worse, by a lot. He is absolutely sinking and not coming back.
