Do we have a percentage of people who visit reddit on a computer vs phone? I assumed by now most of them used a phone, so those same people would keep using phone apps.

I assumed most apps already do this? I believe the voyager app defaults to lemm.ee now because .world is large
I’ve mentioned a list with info of some nature a few times, with people shutting down the idea. It always boiled down to “the instances may lie about what their instance is about”. In their heads what their write may be the truth, even if it isn’t. This would leave it up to a third party to make summaries of these instances, which may or may not be agreed upon. There may be too many drastic and conflicting ideologies.
I didn’t know that. That’s really good.
It should probably the default suggestion or selection now.
Besides smaller complaints (every instance has their issues). .world has gotten too large. Many people have suggested that it close its doors for now so other instances can catch up.
Given that I’ve waited 3 weeks to join his smaller instance of pixelfed.art, I can tell things are already piling up. I am hoping the kickstarter does help.
It does give me hope, but I also worry it may be a double edged sword and opening pandora’s box. There are way too many ideologies here that aren’t democracy. Given how easy the public was brain washed by Trump, I fear this may be an avenue to expose those people to things that probably shouldn’t even be crossing their minds.
It’s mostly people just talking about BlueSky, so no. I’ve had to be the one who explains the federated apps.
As you’ve seen from other comments the short answer is that it doesn’t exist. Honestly the most civilized place I’ve come across is on Tildes, which is not federated and an even smaller community. But it has the charm of earlier reddit days where people actually liked speaking with one another.
Same with me. Tried a week ago on a smaller instance and got nothing. Tried with another email this week and still nothing 🤷🏻♂️. I am not in a rush, was mostly wondering if I had been rejected for some reason.
Anyone have success joining pixelfed.art? Still waiting to get approved over a week later.
I believe Facebook’s name came from an actual thing. The company was created for college students. Many campuses, would give face books that had students and professors from the universities.
I loved the original idea. You’d join with a college email and you got to find other people at your school. Once they opened the flood gates it was never the same.
Is it just being replaced by other equally bad habits? I just found out that disposable vape pens are a thing. Those have plastics and electronics inside. I have no idea what the numbers there are.
Is it the mantis? I had to use kagi and set it to fediverse for it to pop up for me. On firefox and google it it nowhere to be seen for me.
That’s assuming we’re able to draw the people with answers here into the fediverse, in the long run.
Yeah, I feel like there is a lot at play even in terms of how the content is paid for. Maybe netflix only gets the ad money and not the creatives, in which case they don’t want their content on the ad version. Either way, the customer suffers.
Niche communities happened naturally over time on reddit as well. You need to grow the larger base communities first, since you’ll be gathering the numbers there. Then you branch off. The only other option is for you yourself to build up the niche communities by posting more often, it’s a lot of work.
I blocked a lot of news communities, because it was just consuming my feed, so I also missed when this happened.
