The US decided a long time ago that punishment was the main priority, so much so that there is a carve out for it in the 13th ammendment. The US criminal justice system is a complete inhumane failure.

In addition, non-vote is not a vote against what you believe is the greater evil. This has been a zero-sum game for decades, non-participants dont matter. (That means you and your opinions if you dont show up, spoil your ballot for all we care, but participate and dont discourage others from doing so).
