  • Worse than that, the printer I have, a Brother MFC-J895DW, actively eats its own ink on purpose (in the name of keeping it from drying out). Like most people, we print infrequently and I noticed that like every other time we would go to print we would be out of ink. After a bit of searching I found out this was a known thing and it was done on purpose.

I now turn the printer on to print and off when not printing. I haven’t bought ink in over a year. Yeah the print heads need to be conditioned if you go too long between prints, but so what.

  • In the kangaroo court in which a mob ousted me, Wikipedia’s administrators showed that they don’t appear to value details like formal charges, a designated prosecutor, basic decorum, distinction between prosecution and judge, dispassionate adjudication, and so forth

These hypocrite fucks always rail off at the mouth about how abused they are… and it’s always just to get their foot in the door. Once they run the show, they rewrite history, dole out all the abuse they want and face zero repercussions. Intolerant shits that the rest of us simply must tolerate. Well go fuck yourself Larry Sanger. The world doesn’t need more right-wing bullshit.

  • Yes, that’s all true. I would temper that by saying if you can rig orders with front loading the way the book described ten years ago, the end game is not to make the market less predictable and more chaotic. The people architecting this stuff have now been working at it for over a decade.

The no more crashes thing is my own extrapolation based on my personal experience watching them control the price of stocks that were shorted to oblivion using dark pools and synthetics along with the sudden subsequent rise of crypto-capital. I am aware that this brings me into conspiracy territory, but I’m also aware that nothing that has happened since 2008 has done anything but reinforce the notion in my head.

Time will tell, I don’t mean to imply that no crashes is a given but I strongly suspect the entire market is price controlled using all these tools (AI, HFT, crypto, dark pools, synthetics) - and not just this market, but any market that allows these tools to be used.

  • The stock market doesn’t work like this anymore and hasn’t for several years… maybe decades. Share price is completely decoupled from fundamentals. The way you make money for shareholders is by getting the stock price to go up and what the actual company does or doesn’t do is not particularly a consideration anymore.

I go one step further and say that I personally believe the market itself is rigged, has been rigged since just after 2008. It is fully under control by dark pools, algorithms, HFT and AI. We will never again see an appreciable crash in the market, just things which vaguely resemble “normal” market action as the overall line continues to go ever upward.

The stock market is now fully a money-generating machine for the Epstein class. I have been saying this since about 2014 when I read Flash Boys by Michael Lewis and the Dow was at 18,103, Nasdaq 4,773. Even today with this news, the Dow is up currently 72 at 51,564 and the Nasdaq is up 496 at 26,517.

  • This is true, which is hilarious because it proves it’s all just make believe bullshit. You can manufacture a religion and its tenets out of thin air and the courts are obliged to take it seriously and when they don’t want to (ie: Church of Satan) it’s fascinating to watch them try and call your bullshit bullshit without implying that their bullshit is also bullshit.

Anyhow, with the current makeup of the government, Ramsay can do what he wants. Why anybody would work for him is beyond my ability to understand. I think she gets what she deserves for accepting a job with a morality clause like this in it anyway, I’ve no sympathy at all. Likely another “Christian” who happily takes everybody else’s rights away but when they want to have sex, well then they should get an exception. Get fucked bent.

  • Not a stupid question at all. Loosely, I think, it’s any site that trades information using the ActivityPub protocol. Because they use the same underlying protocol, they can easily trade content/posts with each other and yes, Lemmy is part of the Fediverse for that reason.

This is also why you can see posts from lemmy.ca or piefed.social or whatever.domain users while browsing lemmy.world - anyone who sets up a site with the Lemmy software can participate in the network and trade posts with all the others - these are individually called instances. These sites can decide that they don’t want to trade posts with certain other sites (ie: trolls set up a farm on their own instance) and exclude them from their users being able to see them, this is called defederation.

In theory, a Mastodon instance could see content from a Lemmy instance (and Pixelfed and Loops and so on) as they all use the same underlying protocol to trade information, but in practice, it seems that sites basically stick to trading with other sites in their wheelhouse.

BlueSky also started with ActivityPub but I believe they did something to their software to make it proprietary.

The usefulness of all this is: no member site can get a monopoly on content. The largest Lemmy site is lemmy.world and I have an account on there. I switched to dbzer0 because I disagreed with some of the actions taken by lemmy.world (they defederated from some content that I wanted to see) so I came over here and now I can see that content.

Anyway, that’s my understanding of it.
