JaymesRS@piefed.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Tucker Carlson says Pete Buttigieg is 'fake gay,' should answer questions about gay sexEnglish56·18 days agoTo be fair, a lot of people including those on the far left were gatekeeping gayness during the 2020 primary. It’s not new for Buttigieg.
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The future of Vim builds for WindowsEnglish2·23 days agoIt’s still more feature rich than Nano, with things like macros and multi-file search/replace from the command line though since I started using it, Nano has taken up some of the slack.
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The future of Vim builds for WindowsEnglish2·23 days agoI was unfamiliar with wordtsar, that’s amazing.
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The future of Vim builds for WindowsEnglish3·23 days agoWhile I can use Emacs and Vim (adequately enough) I really feel in love with Joe back when I was first learning Unix.
(I did have a phase where I used WordStar and VisiCalc long after they were surpassed by others.)
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•The future of Vim builds for WindowsEnglish186·24 days agoNo one even uses Vim anymore, you should just switch to Wordpad. It’s far superior cause you can type in bold and italics.

JaymesRS@piefed.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Supreme Court to decide if ICE can arrest based on "apparent ethnicity"English4·28 days agoI wasn’t suggesting it, that phrase is an older conservative trope from legal blog from 20 years ago that is clearly motivating the current Supreme Court. (The current strict scrutiny podcast references it too in a clearly sarcastic tone as well)

JaymesRS@piefed.worldto politics @lemmy.world•The US supreme court paved the way for Texas’s gerrymandering messEnglish3·2 months agoProbably true of rulings like Palmer v. Thompson too
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto politics @lemmy.world•The US supreme court paved the way for Texas’s gerrymandering messEnglish18·2 months agoTBF, “The Roberts Supreme Court paved the way for the current mess” is true for just about all of the mess going on right now. (There is a healthy share attributable to the past court too)
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•St. Paul, MN, was hacked so badly that the National Guard has been deployedEnglish18·2 months agoMinneapolis and St Paul (Cross-River sister cities, St Paul is the State Capital) both have mayoral elections on November 4, 2025. The one you’ve been seeing mentioned more likely is the Minneapolis one where the DFL (State Democratic Party) endorsed a candidate for the first time in a bit and it was the challenger to the incumbent Democratic candidate, so it’s been in the news.
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•St. Paul, MN, was hacked so badly that the National Guard has been deployedEnglish7·2 months agoProbably not the mayor, the governor of the state was the VP candidate for Kamala Harris.
JaymesRS@piefed.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Pete Buttigieg warns Democrats can't go back to status quo after President TrumpEnglish12·2 months agoHighly praised him, stopped just short of endorsing saying he needs to know more about his policy proposals. Said there’s room in the party for dem socialists.
I mean the country was founded on the conceit that some political violence is ok. It’s embedded in the revolution and the framework of the 2nd Amendment…
