Absolutely not. Hitler happened to be in power during Germany’s recovery from the Great Depression, but nothing he did meaningfully pushed that along.

I think it’s more accurate to say that they’re less likely to succeed in getting public high office. “I want to fix things” is a very normal human being with normal levels of empathy reason to seek high public office.

Okay that was poor phrasing on my part, but what I wanted to get at is that these unions barely do anything. The gains of the original labor movement came through militant labor action (strikes and the like), and the current generation of unions doesn’t seem to intend to replicate that. Without this implied threat, the whole thing will stall out with only marginal labor-related gains.

That’s nice and all but it’ll all fizzle out without actual organised labor to back them up.

I’m not saying they need to run a coop but also they just shouldn’t be doing any of what the current administration is telling them to do.

People often join the military in the US because they have zero options to get out of poverty otherwise.

IDF soldiers are conscripts and we (or at least I) hate them all the same so shrugs. Their economic opportunity doesn’t trump others’ lives.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Self-proclaimed moderates in America tend to want stuff like universal healthcare, better public transport and taxes on the rich, and the median American voter hates Israel now. My impression is that actual moderates (the people that would be legitimately represented by Hakeem Jeffries or Kamala Harris) are very fortunately no longer a significant voter bloc, if they ever were. I won’t deny the potential benefits of name recognition, but on the other hand we can’t forget about all the Michigan Arabs who rightly hate Harris’s guts.
