It’s not a both sides but more a larger scale comment on society as a whole. But fit it however you want to fit it. I could have gone into detail on how not everyone can control the damage they do. Some can absolutely make a large difference by their actions. But as for generations, which is what this thread is mostly about, we all have been a problem during the times when we could have done better. The ones with real power want the infighting among us because it’s a distraction, and again, it is our fault if we fall for that again and again.

That seems to be a male problem, and doesn’t even touch on all the other reasons those who would have voted for Harris (or any other blue) didn’t. But sure, let’s use a gender chart to make a generation point. Everything is correlated if you squint enough.

We’re all the problem, which is why generational blaming is just pointing fingers to make oneself feel less accountable.

An LLM used for language purposes is the best application. It’s using that hammer to drive a nail. When they deviate from that role to other things, that’s when the effectiveness drops. When Co-pilot was pushed into our enterprise system incorporated into Outlook we played around with seeing what it could do with summarizing emails we would routinely send and get. It made them pretty, I give it that. But it didn’t handle the information well and was very inaccurate at time when it was missing data. The whole hallucination thing. So just verify what it produces for you before you hit send.

That sounds a lot like typical Windows features over the years. Using WIndows at work today I unpinned Co-pilot and that stupid new Notes app from my taskbar three times. They kept coming back, not right away, but ninja like.

It’s helpful to be reminded that, yes, there are people out there like that. Learn to detect them early on.

Senate seat or Speaker of the House, let her gain more power in Congress and help to transform the other seats there to progressives a state and district at a time. Also keeps her potentially in control longer than even an eight term Presidential position. Granted, it is possible to drop back down to Congress after President, but I don’t think it’s been done much or at all, and certainly not in today’s world where the security would be a big deal. Her momentum and baggage, even if it was a good Presidency, will impede her work, and again that’s eight years lost in changing the larger picture of the government. The long term goals are I think far more important here than the next four or eight years.

More eventual retirement money invested in the market then.

The blue collar worker should try this approach. Oh, right. We wouldn’t have a job in a few days.

Separately yes, with the cost of just military operations, and then the long lasting side effects of this whole diversion.

But domestic spending to help citizens is too expensive.

On the other other hand, hopefully when people like that leave an organization (military or a company in general) they take a knowledge base and experience with them, making things dumber and less efficient.

But I agree, I’d rather have a mole on the inside doing what good they can to block the march to evil.

First of all, we’re not there yet, but to maybe avoid any future conflicts depicted in scifi, we should narrow the rights protected to persons, and then define what a person is that doesn’t constrict it to human. Or at least leave it open enough to allow different concepts of self aware beings while cutting off the very broad definition that allows a company to qualify.

Anything you can’t build and repair when it breaks is worthless for a long term situation. Unless long term means a week or so and then civilization returns, like after a bad storm. Hand, water, and gravity powered energy storage are not pretty or as much energy, but they’ll keep going long after panels break or wear out. Then there’s how to store the power, batteries are a lot more complicated if you want something that you can redo or make vs. scavenging. Again, it’s the line between even a bad outage with eventual resolution or complete loss.
