It’s become very clear over the last 20 years that most people in charge all just assumed everything would continue to coast, the status quo would never change, and have absolutely no idea what to do when someone grabs the steering wheel and jerks it into the oncoming lanes.

Not once in my enlistment, such as it was, did I question what was in the pants of fellow service members.

Nor did I question their capabilities when they were needed.

Because I’m not an insecure idiot with the maturity of a child.

I tested this with my Facebook app in 2013. Found a Spanish radio station, set my phone down next to it overnight, and for several weeks I was seeing ads exclusively in Spanish. Deleted the app the first day I saw them in Spanish, and deleted my account not long after that.

My wife still uses them after 5 years together and me pointing out all the times it’s obviously eavesdropping on us, and she’s even been creeped out by it before. Still uses it…

Unless my microphone and camera have physical switches, I will assume they are being used. Those little “your camera and microphone are off” icons in the corner of the screen don’t reassure me.

They’d rather look even more incompetent with classified info than just admit whatever the real reason is or make up something fake to cover.

Every time something major breaks and it seems like everyone involved is extremely incompetent, this is what I assume.

They knew exactly what they were doing. It was intentional from start to finish. They just don’t want to admit that, because then they would have to admit the real reason, and that thought terrifies them.

I sent the first news story about the signal chats to my parents ands in-laws in a big group that said “I had better never fucking hear another one of you dumbasses say a word about ‘HeR eEeEeEmAiLs’ ever again”

Not a single one replied, both parents have (according to my wife) started taking Facebook posts they’ve made in the past down, and my in-laws have not said a political word in over a week. It’s been refreshing.

They clearly aren’t ready to accept they may have been totally wrong all along, but it’s nice to see they might be self-aware enough to recognize when they might be potentially maybe SOMETIMES be less than correct about specific things.

You need a microscope to see it, but i consider it a step up.

You know it’s funny, I actually tried two different multicolor pens, but there’s a limited size for the pen to fit, and the colors are never quite what you want them to be.

I use pilot g2 pens with a 0.38 tip. The gel pens work best, as there’s minimal to no bleeding on the page like markers, normal Bic style pens are too hard on the paper to actually mark anything, and pencils don’t auto-feed.

I’m sure a multi-color pen is feasible, and I’m positive I could find the perfect one for a price. But this works for now, as long as I don’t feel like adding more than 4 colors.

I like that handwritten look, but I’m also not dumb enough to use my own handwriting.

My anonymous letters are written with one of those vinyl plotter/cutter things, but it uses a pen attachment to write things instead of cut. It looks very nice when finished. And most importantly, as long as you wear gloves, you don’t leave any evidence on the paper.

Note: you can also use it to draw things, but swapping out colors is tedious.

Gotta love all the people who seem to think if we keep doing exactly the same thing (non-violent protests that are out of people’s way) and if we ask really really nicely that we will be allowed to go back to a less insane country.

Anyone who wants to sit down and ask ICE to not deport them to a concentration camp is welcome to do so I guess. I’d say “your funeral” but you’ll never get a funeral. You’ll be dumped in a mass grave or incinerated.

If Obama did it, I’m positive we would have sitting congressional members calling for his execution for treason publicly.

This is such a weird comment, full of “NiCd batteries aren’t good enough so solar/wind are useless because we can’t store the power” energy.

It’s a test reactor, it’s meant to be smaller than the “big boys”, and in a few years it’ll be smaller and more efficient.

Sure, it’s not going to singlehandedly power an entire country, but distributed power is better than localized. 1000 small reactors placed all over means less likelihood of system wide failure than a handful of large ones.

If I pull a gun when ICE thugs roll up on me, I am ABSOLUTELY not going to the gulag.

I will be dead, having been shot 197 times by 3 people who shot 400 rounds each.

But if I’m lucky, quick, and have drilled enough with my firearm, I’ll have taken at least one of them with me.

The gun isn’t some magic forcefield, and nobody who posts or says things like this is under the illusion that it is.

I will happily catch bullets taking some ICE thugs with me before I lie down and accept death in a concentration camp.

Nobody posting memes like this is under any illusion that if they pull a gun, they are getting away with no repercussions. Bare minimum, you are now on the run for the rest of your life or until the remaining US population sees the light of day and organizes with us.

I know for a fact I’m opinionated, and don’t have problems sharing them.

Please, by all means, block me if you think seeing my comments is adversely affecting you. I’d rather be ignored by someone than make their day worse (unless they’re actively trying to make others miserable, but that’s a separate discussion)

The fediverse has definitely gotten a little less hostile after blocking a few things.

And remember you can jump ship to another instance at any time! I’ve hopped a few times but for now my instance is filling my needs without much drama that I am aware of.
