Lmao, for real though, FDR was the last President that prioritized the working class over the capital class. And in turn capitalists tried to overthrow the government or have him killed: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Plot

It was the stupidest of ideas. Republicans were never going to vote for her in any numbers
It is what the donor (capital) class wanted. Liberals are capitalists which means they serve the capital class first and foremost.
We have a two party system which is inherently hyper polarizing as it paints everything as being black and white. It is an unbelievably stupid and undemocratic system, and unfortunately, nothing will ever improve until we replace our broken two party system with a modern multiparty democracy
I just want to point out that the idea that “questioning your party helps the enemy” is an authoritarian mentality. If we aren’t free to demand that the left-of-fascism party stop supporting (funding) genocide, then perhaps the US has already fallen to authoritarianism.
Voting isn’t a love letter, it’s a chess move
The difference is you can win a game of chess. There is no winning with our two party oligarchy. Which candidate will give us universal healthcare? Which candidate will give us economic democracy by converting capitalist companies into worker co-ops or nationalizing critical industries? Which candidate will give us free college and the freedom to unionize without fearing for our careers? Neither of them? Cool. So either we vote for liberal corporate oligarchy or the fascist oligarchs will make us pay dearly for it. Either way we lose, but one is worse than the other. Our “democracy” is like holding a gun to someone’s head and telling them they are voting to get shot if they don’t vote to drop their pants and bend over. I’ll do it, but only because the alternative is worse.
I knew all these single issue fake leftists were full of shit when it was revealed that Trump has been sabotaging peace talks and they weren’t immediately outraged by that revelation.
Sorry, but if people aren’t free to critique their party funding genocide and aren’t free to protest genocide without " helping the enemy", then our system has already fallen to authoritarianism.
Don’t get me wrong, I am voting for Harris. But our two party system is a fucking farce. It makes a mockery of every ideal that democracy is supposed to represent. Authority is supposed to be given from the consent of the people. But most Americans agree that our two party system is broken and yet our politicians have made it impossible for us to fix or replace our broken system because they benefit from it. A system forced on us by a minority for their benefit against the will of the majority is the complete opposite of a democracy.
Trump is 100x worse. Liberals might be in bed with conservatives on 90% of issues, but fascists actually want to use the military against us.
I upset people when I reject the idea that we are voting to save democracy because I believe the US’s two party system is an insult to every ideal that democracy stands for, but I am still voting for Harris. Vote to save our country from fascism. Vote to keep your friends and family from being rounded up for supporting Healthcare for all.
Luddites weren’t conservatives and they weren’t anti technology, they were anti-technology being used to destroy the livelihood of workers rather than being used to improve their lives.
Imagine that AI / robots suddenly made your entire career field obsolete overnight and suddenly you couldn’t find a job anywhere. You would be pretty upset, ya? Now imagine being called anti-technology just because you argued that technology should be used to help the workers that are displaced rather than leaving them destitute.
Sort of like how it is illegal for companies to fire or mistreat workers for trying to unionize?
The uncomfortable truth is that our laws protect the rich (including their companies), but rarely bind them and bind workers, but rarely protect us.
The mentality that the future is always someone else’s problem is proving to be the biggest weakness of capitalism and our species.
Reagan was arguably a neoliberal and Bush a neocon, but current Republicans have moved even further right straight to neofascism. The way that liberal democrats serve corporations over people proves to me that there is no longer a meaningful distinction between liberalism and neoliberalism.
I am pretty sure working from home has proven to be more productive, so I think other factors are at play here. I worry that returning to the office might be the only way to keep the capitalists from trying to send our jobs over to poorer nations. If the tapeworms think the job needs to be done face to face then it is much hardet to send those jobs to India or S. America.
On the bright side, Republicans destroying the country with fascism might be the fastest path for the US to finally adopt a modern multiparty proportional representative democracy.
The way capitalism ignored medical science to poison multiple generations with lead, and now is doing the same thing with plastics has completed soured me on capitalism. It is truly a disgusting and irredeemable system where the greed of a few outweigh the needs of everyone else.
And yet “our” politicians chose to listen to lobbyists (bribes) rather than scientists. For decades! This is the lead problem all over again.
I want to see what the long term economic cost was after they fired tens of thousands of tech workers hoping to replace us with AI. It feels like workers are always the ones who suffer the most under capitalism.
Critical thinking is essentially learning to ask good questions and also caring enough to follow the threads you find.
For example, if mental health is to blame for school shootings then what is causing the mental health crisis and are we ensuring that everyone has affordable access to mental healthcare? Okay, we have a list of factors that adversely impact mental health, what can we do to address each one? Etc.
Critical thinking isn’t hard, it just takes time, effort.
You know how sometimes a movie is so terrible that it becomes good? I feel that way about Musk. He is so unbelievably stupid that it is honestly sort of amazing. He has all but destroyed Twitter and now he has dealt mortal strike to Tesla by opening endorsing fascists who hate electric cars. Simply amazing.
I think you mean “everyone left of FASCISM” because liberals are center-right at best. Center left is Social Democracy (Bernie Sanders and AOC)
