the problem is that autism is not a disease, it’s a different kind of brain wiring
Intellectual disability, Schizophrenia, Depression, Bipolar. We shouldn’t be treating any of this? Part of the autism spectrum is as debilitating as those can be. As far as I can tell the only question is who gets to decide when Autism is disorderly, and it sure as fuck shouldn’t be RFK or any Trump administrator.
I’m asking questions. I think just stating autism can’t be “cured” is a wild claim considering we barely understand what it is. Do I need to state my politics before asking questions or do you just immediately think I’m a trump loving maniac that is okay with rounding up all the autistic?
You don’t get diagnosed as Chinese.
I am ignorant about autism. I’m pretty sure humanity is ignorant about autism. There are people suffering degraded quality of life attributed to autism, is that not worth treating? Are people like Chrischan not ill or is that not related to autism?
Why are you so sure autism can’t be cured? Is “autism” even a narrow enough diagnosis to cure?
I didn’t vote for trump. I don’t support rounding up autistic people. RFK is a maniac. Can we have civil discussion?
What about people that like to talk shit? I enjoy banter give and take. Reddit is full of soft whiners and I’m not into it.
I directly compared autism to other mental disorders. How is that implicit or unclear? The fact is there are autistic people that would have better lives if they weren’t autistic. I don’t really care what you want to call that, disorder, neurodivergence, being special. You could absolutely cause enough neurological changes that someone ends up on the spectrum, but that won’t “cure” them because they weren’t debilitated, by nature of the word. What you should do is stop acting like being autistic is just being different. Sometimes it is, sometimes an autistic person is beyond normal in a good way, and sometimes autism can ruin your life. It’s the life ruining kind that should be treated.
