Guerrilla resistance could prevent the US military from ever implementing full-on fascism in this country no matter the military, to that much I agree. But you’d need people to give a shit. They really do not seem to.

Neo-liberals (diet conservatives basically) are so busy jerking themselves off about how great they are, forgot why the second amendment exists.
That isn’t why the second amendment exists, but you’re too busy jerking yourself off about how much better you are than “liberals” to know that.
Democrats are NOT leftists, they’re center right at best.
Americans are NOT leftists, they’re center right at best.
Edit: Also, everyone loves to blame Democrats for turning conservative after Jimmy Carter, but have you looked at the election results from 1980? 1984? 1988?
You run to represent the population you have, not the one you wish for.
Yes, it’s true that this election was about democracy vs fascism, but the election result tells us that it’s possible to see the election from other angles where it’s about other things.
Yes and it’s extremely possible to think the election was about something else when every available form of media talked about it being about something else.
Defunding education doesn’t improve this situation, and I feel we hit a tipping point where we might not be able to get these skills back in the curriculum going forward.
People always say education is to blame but the educational system was significantly better when the majority of Trump voters were in the school system. It’s only gotten worse in my lifetime and I responded to say that I think the tipping point was COVID.
Those attending school four years ago appear to have suffered a large blow educationally and I’ve read lots of things suggesting that those losses may be permanent. Some losses are from the school closures, some are from COVID itself which has a deleterious effect on mental acuity.
In addition to all of this, the amount of microplastics Americans have been eating since 2016 has roughly doubled. We’re finding microplastics in people’s balls and brains.
I dunno what most people are like in America anymore but there’s at least a hefty portion that get their news via social media apps and side sources.
Dude this is America, it takes us four months to shop for Christmas gifts. Spikes in “did Joe Biden drop out?” happened on search engines during November 5th. We’re idiots.
I think one of the problems with Harris was that she actually believes that the American people are smart, capable, pragmatic folks with a penchant for helping others. That may have been partially true about some subsection of Americans at some point in time in the past, but 40+ straight years of institutional rot and attention attacks from an increasingly shitty and incoherent media ecosystem have taken their toll.
The fact that “tradwife” entered the lexicon and is popular on social media tells you basically everything you need to know about how many Americans think of women in this country.
A portion of voters didn’t even know Joe Biden had dropped from the race or why. Everyone thinking it’s merely that the policies weren’t progressive enough is clueless about the information environment many Americans live in today.
I’m pretty sure Warren would have outperformed Harris by a mile.
What makes you so sure? The fact that Warren lost in the 2020 primary by giant amounts? 😆
Bernie was right in 2020. America isn’t ready to elect a female president.
Saying women can’t be sexist is akin to saying black people can’t be racist. Of course they can, and I saw segments where they were interviewing Trump women at rallies and they were saying shit like women are too emotional to lead a country. It turns out people can hate themselves.
They’re pretty good at monopolizing markets and releasing rehashed garbage once they’ve done so.
I’ve heard the film is terrible which is more important.
In what world is refusing to participate in a system you see as irreparably broken considered condoning its existence?
In a world where refusal to participate is indistinguishable from being too lazy, complacent, or satisfied to participate, and that is the one we live in.
Do you think politicians are going to go check why you didn’t vote? It’s basically as if you don’t exist to them.
Edit: I find it hilarious that when people disagree with my argument here, they downvote this post to signal that. Why do that? If I’m wrong, I can just look through everyone’s viewing history to see all of the people who didn’t vote on the post at all instead. 😆
In that way, if no other, voting does serve to support the existing system.
The amount and percentage of non-voter signals to most politicians that people tacitly approve of the entire system. After all, if they disapproved of something about it, they would’ve at least bothered to show up and vote, right?
There’s no better “the status quo is fine” indicator than not even giving enough of a shit to show up at the polls (or in some cases return a slip of paper through the mail).
Just because the technology is there and cheaper does not mean that humans can push aside their physiological limitations in a critical situation.
Have you considered the shareholders though?
