I stand corrected, thanks for the context!

Probably autocorrect going from Melania to Melanie.

Sometimes the theatrics of shutting down a nazi site is just as important as the actual shutting down of a nazi site.

While interesting bit of political theory, do these distinctions really make that much of a difference? Like pretending to be a fascist, and being a fascist both seem like they’re heading toward the basically the same end result, a singular authoritarian dictator who uses the power of the state to their functionally exclusive advantage.

Until Republicans see blatant gerrymandering as a moral problem too we need to play the game like they do.

Trump vs Musk damages is a distinction without a difference. It’s like asking if either Hitler vs Himmler were more responsible for the Holocaust. At the end of the day they were the ones in power, they made the decisions, either had the power to stop, and they didn’t.

Sure, let’s say they are controlled opposition. What do we do after we burn down the democratic party? What then? Because I do not like the prospect of what comes after a single party takes complete control.
There is a lot of talk about burning and destroying but nothing about what comes after and it’s the “What comes after” that has me most worried.

My point is that we need to have an organized political structure to get progressive people elected who will actually promote progressive policies. Saying “Burn Down the Dems” with literally no plan to put up opposition to Republicans is beyond short sighted strategically.

I appreciate the fervor, democratic leadership is a bunch of spinless cowards, but trying to tear down democrats without a competent actually progressive replacement political organization is handing power directly to Republicans to rule completely unopposed.
Given the reality of political parties in the US, I’d rather spinless corpses filling up space to slow Republicans down rather than letting Republicans take total control in the absence of any marginal opposition.
Unless you’re planning on running for office as a competently progressive candidate.

That makes some sense like an early blunderbluss kind of thing?

I don’t think they really had shotguns in the 15th century tho.

And it’s not even a good search engine either. It just spits out sarcastic jokes from barely up voted reddit posts.

Distinction without a difference.
In other words you don’t have any substantive evidence that democrats have never done anything remotely progressive.

Tragic: You agree with the worst person you know.

And what does an independent DoJ look like to you?

Our constitution does have the method to be fixed, 27 times we’ve fixed it. They’re called amendments. Honestly I would hazard to say that no political document anywhere is going to stand up to bad faith actors trying to subvert it. At the end of the day the the constitution is just a piece of parchment with some ink on it and only has the power we give it.
Germany as a nation began in 1871 when it went from being the Holy Roman Empire a loose collection of Germany states, to the nation of Germany and ~50 years later would collapse into Nazi Germany. Fascists don’t care about the law, they use the perception of law to gain power.

Supposed to be separation of powers, Judiciary is supposed to just look at evidence and make judgement calls, the executive is supposed to do the legwork to actually bring that evidence to the courts. If the Judiciary is the ones collecting evidence and making the judgement calls as to what will and won’t support a particular position, that’s a bad thing.
Unfortunately that separation of power breaks down when fascists controll most/all the levers of power.
And yet here we are mincing words about what primate vs monkey vs whatever other taxonomy humans are biological cousins with instead of dealing with the literal racism on display.
We should be more outraged at racism than we are about which words a news outlet used to describe the racism.
