On a day when JD Vance effectively admitted to another fabrication, as well.
This not only screams BS but makes me question other similar events which seemed to have perfect timing and a nice photo op.

I’ve seen this one. This is the one where a bunch of Republicans are like “I’m a never Trumper” and then a month later they’re all on the floor kissing his feet.
Good thing he gutted Twitter’s content moderation teams in the name of “free speech”, eh?
If I had a dollar for every time a billionaire loses more money than I could ever dream of because their hubris got in the way or they misunderstood a concept or were just plain dumb – well, I guess I’d be a billionaire too.
How in the hell have the worst among us consistently been put into positions of power? These folks are an embarrassment to the country.
This is disturbingly accurate.
Welp, we’ve already seen plenty from these folks about how they would “lead”. No thanks.
Can you imagine how incredibly different things would be right now had Biden stayed in the race?
While I’d love to see Kamala wipe the floor with him again, I don’t think another debate is necessary. At this point Trump’s supporters are conditioned to just believe anything he says regardless of accuracy. Not a great idea to give dude more of a platform than he already has.
For me, the number one reason to want another debate is just to give him more chances to out himself as an absolute buffoon.
I seem to recall 2 or maybe 3 comments he made during the most recent debate which either directly complimented Putin or threatened the US on Putin’s behalf (one had to do with Russian nukes but I don’t remember the exact quote).
The point is, the fact that he’s arguably talking up a foreign power in a US presidential debate is absolutely insane.
I don’t see YT being replaced in that sense any time soon. Federated text and image content is really still in infancy, and video hosting at the size of YT is a tremendously more complex feat, requiring, at the absolute minimum: a metric crapton of bandwidth and storage.
For me, I just use invidious and similar for the foreseeable future, or peertube when there are things on it.
At the very least, not being signed in to YT and having only a local watch history and subscriptions (=not on a YT or Google account) does starve the algorithm a bit.
And he never corrected himself. Kind of strange, but I guess time is at a premium.
This is a good idea and not something I’ve seen yet… If I get some time later maybe I’ll post one.
Hopefully at least the sofa wears protection. Don’t want stains.
These kinds of things will ramp up as we get closer to the election. An entire constituency of the USA is 100% convinced that any loss must mean a stolen election. This is uncharted territory, even compared to 2020.
Vance needs to get a nice sofa in a secluded spot and let this whole thing blow over.
If you rewatch it with the sound off, it is pretty incredible. From the moment Kamala walks over and shakes his hand (which he obviously didn’t intend to do), his body language is pure defensiveness. He scowls and hunkers down throughout the entire thing. His anger is apparent.
Trump could not have looked less presidential, and that is saying a lot for someone who was literally President before.
This right here. I find myself wondering if these people even exist. I legitimately do not understand how someone can look at these two candidates (plus the US two-party system, which for better or worse is. a. thing.) and say they’re undecided.
It’s like offering someone a choice between a piece of moldy lettuce and a fresh salad for lunch. These people: “Hm, I’m not really sure. I need more time to get the facts, and as bad as the moldy lettuce looks, are we absolutely sure that salad is really a salad?”
Looking forward (/s) to the massive spin campaign about how the GOP shutting down the government because Trump is upset is somehow the fault of the Democrats.
Even with Trump insisting to have won the debate “by a lot”, Republicans were virtually unanimous that Trump had come off second best in a series of exchanges that saw the vice-president deliberately bait him on his weak points while he responded with visible anger.
Trump has become so accustomed to the Goebbels’ ploy of “if you repeat a lie enough times, it becomes true”. While the terrifying part of that ploy is that it usually works, it does have limits when supporters are asked to deny something they personally witnessed. He can say he did great, but it’s very much like the wizard asking people not to look behind the curtain – after they’ve already looked back there.
What should be a GOP call of “let’s make sure Trump does better next time” can only become “Trump already nailed it and if you don’t agree then you’re wrong”. I can’t imagine it will do anything but alienate swing voters who may have been on the fence but could be off it if the party messaging is completely disconnected from what they saw.
Something tells me Vance is more qualified for sofa covering than health coverage
