For those who don’t care to read the full article
Or even the whole title, really
Extend, Embrace, Extinguish?
Fun fact: It doesn’t even meet Apple’s own standard for text contrast!
Dude… Who here is asking for “a magical piece of PCB for free?” I’m assuming that means you think people are asking for free phones?
See the last sentence of my original comment.
It’s about the social phenomenon around the imessage chat colors, which is intentional on Apple’s part. You must have a social in-group and an out-group. To be in the in-group, you must purchase the correct products, subscribe to the correct services.
CONSUME
Apple doesn’t “share a lot of the blame.” The blame belongs solely to Apple and their insistence on a closed ecosystem. They intentionally hamstring any cross functionality with competing devices, even features as simple as text messaging. It’s important for Apple to foster a cult-like mentality among their consumers.
So write a law against certain advanced mathematics. And prosecute anyone who uses advanced math. Best of luck with that. AI is math. You’re demonstrating that you don’t understand what the technology actually is or does by comparing algorithms to objectively immoral actions.
In real life, the cat does not go back into the bag. You can legislate behavior to shape society, to an extent. You can’t legislate what kinds of math people are allowed to do, it’s just not going to work.
You’re not operating within the realm of reality, which is why people don’t take you seriously.
I know, I know, go fuck myself, I’m an anti-human, not worthy of life, etc. I get it, you can spare me the reply.
Enjoy yourself bud.
You seem to know so much about me, simply from the observation that you can’t “ban” an entire concept like that in the real world. Amazing!
I see you’ve got some big feelings about this. Maybe try to express them without the hateful abusive language. Hope your day gets better!
Trying to ban AI is like trying to ban math. Or staple Jello to a tree. It just doesn’t work that way.
They won’t be including encryption so it’s not quite feature parity but yeah
Ofc, Apple being Apple, I wouldn’t put it past them to artificially “break” things or arbitrarily introduce limits between RCS and iMessage
That’s where my money is
LOL I always knew that creepy Life360 shit would come back to bite people in the ass eventually.
They probably will. They’re aware of and actively foster the “in-group” psychology that plays out in youth social circles. Anyone with a non-Apple phone is excluded as lower class, weird, or less-than. You don’t get included in the group chats that are often the center of your peers’ social lives because no one wants the annoyance of dealing with the limitations of conversing with a green bubble. You must conform, purchase the correct products, and sign over your life to the correct social media platforms if you want to participate in society.
Here are several studies, I have not read all of them but they are what I found:

Tik Tok’s design clearly taps into psychological principles that drive addiction. The infinite scroll and unpredictable content rewards work like slot machines in a dopamine-driven feedback loop. This keeps users glued to their screens, often without realizing how much time has passed. The For You feed continuously adapts to like a million data tracking points, and spits out a constant stream of whatever content it deems most likely to keep you scrolling. Neuroscientists have pointed out that heavy TikTok use can reduce attention spans and increase the need for instant gratification which are effects tied to dopamine stimulation. Obviously bytedance isn’t going to publicize the proprietary research they used to accomplish this. But the app clearly uses these engagement-maximizing techniques. That also goes for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit (they wish lol) and the rest of them. But in tiktok’s case, it’s an export from an adversarial nation, and you only need to look at the internally approved version of tiktok for Chinese users, which promotes a completely different kind of content.
Don’t think there’s any new info in the video.
