It was some kind of rare specimen which explains the price. But it was/is also delicious and nuanced so I feel like I’ve gotten return for my money. Ot was shipped in 100 g glass jars because that’s how they assumed people would buy it.

The most I’ve paid for coffee beans was 500€/kg and the only way to get it that cheap was to buy the full kg. I mean I’m used to paying extra for extra good coffee but that did sting a bit. Then again it’s less per cup than an average milk drink in an average cafe and I don’t have to put milk into my cup.
The water quality straight out the tap is so good I’ve never felt any need for warer alchemy. But I do get that some places have way too heavy water.
Unfiltered coffee is also high in cholesterol, a simple paper filter catches most of that.
Anaerobic funky coffees are way ahead of the pack, I don’t think I’ll drink anything else ever again. Apart from the super expensive papayo, but I’m never getting any more after it’s gone.
And I just got rid of my espresso machine…
Thank heavens I don’t like espresso.
Kaadat vaan noi kevarit siihen päälle niin hyvä siitä tulee.
Aeropress is the superior alternative out of those two.

1·2 months agoWell this is news to me (can’t stand Lance’s videos) but I don’t really use the moka anymore.

5·2 months agoTo get acceptable moka:
- use
pre-boiledboiling water - pre-heat your stove
- when brewing take the pot off heat before it gurgles and pour cold water on the bottom part of it
The last part takes some experience to get right but it’s absolutely necessary.
- use
I guess I should try.
I never said it was a good idea.
O’ve had very positive experiences with the roastery in the past, so I assumed it would be something special when they said it would be a once in a lifetime experience. I went for the full kilo because a) it was far cheaper per kg than the smaller bags and b) if it’s good I want to drink the full kg. My issue probably is that I’ve found out I’m really into long fermentations which this doesn’t ofc have because the bean is supposed to shine here.
Theoretically infinite rainbows.
