21st century bonzi buddy, no thanks

As a worldnet user old school Juno always had this mystic. AOL was always a blind spot though.

Its like almost like the sites are drugs and the users are junkies that will do anything for a hit.

Only a business puts they take 10% of your income in their on boarding contract. That alone tells you most organized religions are a scam. Denominations are just franchises at this point just like McDonald’s.

mastadon is like being apart of that clique in high school that revolved around that one popular kid.

It’s more old school yahoo from what I remember

It’s like everyone forgot about open ID but also having accounts tied to the an instance is not the problem with good export and import. Communities are what we need to have abstraction on just like IRC if I go to @games i should see threads from all instances on the network. Just like everyone in an IRC network can talk in the same channel even though they connect on different IRC servers.

This is a horrible idea and screams scam and will just pit you that much further behind in your next class. As classes build on each other.

Yeah a shell account is a standard term for getting a terminal access in a shared system going all the way back to mainframes.
Most universities at least in the US had a thing called a Sunsite that came with shell access sometimes.

Yeah they do

If you are planning on running an open shell account server. I would look up joining the tildeverse as a member server.

That’s the one thing idiocracy got wrong it wouldn’t be Costco it would be Rent-A-Center

Yeah cause everyone joined but then abandoned their accounts we need a secondary value for date of last post

Yeah it’s like with the AI Gen posts. If they are not willing to put in the effort to post something real. Why should I put in the effort to engage with their content.

True i like your idea of marking them. Just when people join a community i hate that they have wade through a mess of discarded clutter. To find the good places.

Problem is a lot of people don’t remember early reddit it was the same way lots of tech folks then grew organic from there.

This 100%, honestly what lemmy/mbin needs is a clean up of dead communities. That were created and abandoned during the reddit api exodus. As well as the active communities that are just a bot posting content from reddit and nothing else.
At least we have the tildeverse
you can also mount it to a directory just like in POSIX systems
