The Jedi were integrated into the Republic as a peacekeeping/ humanitarian/ advisery organization after Darth Bane more or less wiped out the Sith Brotherhood and much of the Jedi led Army of Light at the end of the New Sith Wars. Though both before and after the New Sith Wars there were points where there were Jedi chancellors or even the Jedi de facto taking over when the Republic more or less collapsed a couple time, not even getting into military leader like Revan, Surik, or Lord Hoth who held military positions within the Republic.

Id argue that for a lot of them they effectively were forced by economics, misinformation, and propaganda. Honestly there’s plenty of reason for boomers alone to overwhelm Gen Z and millennials at times. Reminder they make up roughly a quarter of the population still and that’s with leftover silent generation, Gen x, Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen alpha being around. Frankly with that much population disparity it makes sense that they are able to overwhelm in some regions depending on demographic factors.

Then ya throw in Gen x, more specifically generation Jones and ya end up with a bloc that is probably approaching 30-40 percent of the population.

It isn’t too odd when you think about it, Alan Moor and I both read 1984 which places a good bit of focus on propaganda and methods of control.
