I joined Ingress during the closed beta, and technically still play, incredibly rarely. Before they started monetizing it with boosts and extra item storage and stuff, it was a really cool, unique game. Meet up with other players of both factions and either blanket the town and spend a couple hours hacking every portal high enough level to give good gear, or battle live for control of real locations. I once fought off a couple by myself, the three of us frantically running around a playground/park for like 90 minutes. Good fun, good exercise too.

When PGO was released, and the swarm of new players to effectively the same game (same backend, same locations, just a different visual and Pokémon instead of Portals and Lore) lots of places got bitchy about people coming around and not buying stuff, getting very Karen about the situation. Pair that with the desire to cash in on both games, and then tightening the requirements and restrictions for android (for a long time, I couldn’t play because I was running GrapheneOS).

I still fire it up when I think about it and have some time, but I haven’t been to a meet-up in over a decade, even longer for an official event. I’m still level 8, so I can interact with all items afaik, but my stats are basically a time capsule of a time forgotten.

This is what I use, though I run it on a local server that checks services that it runs (update breaks something, etc) and then also reaches out to the vps (and more) for status checks. Have it check services that are accessible by an access control rule, so the server is protected but you have updates on exactly what is having issues.

I dunno if it would help, but between my phone and my computers (and one of my local servers) I use KDE Connect. Read about whatever I’m working on with the phone, share > kde > device, boom the clipboard is filled with whatever, or the link is automatically opened. Then proceed with the thing on my computer. Need to think or read about something but need to step away from the computer? Just copy it on the desktop, and again the clipboard is filled on the phone.

And of course sharing tabs on Firefox/derivatives.

Ehh the range was fine, I had a pretty degraded battery (nearing the required threshold for battery replacement) and it still got 75-80 miles on a charge consistently, and 5+ miles per kilowatt. The battery chemistry got a refresh in… 2013? To help defend against this. I live in the place that was most impacted by this, actually. The battery really doesn’t appreciate being fast charged in 115F (air) temps.

Afaik gen 2 still lacked active cooling, unless they fixed that. I’d like to get another gen 1, do a battery swap and heat pump upgrade, and enjoy it. That car was fantastic, other than wishlist items like AWD and getting more power (gotta go fast), it was perfect.
